FALLING INLOVE WITH FALL
It’s about that time where the trees are going to start changing, the weather cooling down, and we’ll begin staying indoors a whole lot more. Cider will be brewing, fires roasting, and snuggling will be had! With the eminent coming of winter I think it is the perfect time to make small changes to your home in preparation for staying indoors. Here are a few interior design suggestions on getting ready for the chilly season. Just like fashion, color schemes change from season to season. Exchanging your spring/summer colors for fall/winter colors as well as patterns can transform the mood of your living space which just might be the easiest change you can make with the new season.
Aside from color, the most important focus on transitioning your home for the fall is creating a warm and cozy environment. Adding plush throw pillows and soft throw blankets amongst your sofas and chairs will do wonders.
Make the fireplace or reading area a focal point by moving your furniture around it. You’ll be in these rooms a lot more. Try layering rugs to add texture while giving the space a warmer feel. Display candles around the room for a warmer ambiance this also could be a solution if you do not have a fire place.
As for your bedroom switch out your light weight comforter, linens and pillows to a cozier fabric with warmer colors.
Don’t forget the outside, just because its cooler out, doesn’t mean it’s not perfect weather for gatherings. Throw some blankets over your outside seating, light some outdoor candles and arrange your furniture around a beautiful Chiminea or fire pit. This will be a wonderful and relaxing space to cuddle up with good company over a lovely glass of red wine, or even some hot apple cider.
I know this post may have some people feeling gloomy with the fact that fall means we are one step closer to cold, cold winter, but take this time to recreate your home. Find ways to make it more enjoyable, and prepare it for a very comfortable and peaceful hibernation. Who knows you may not mind being indoors after all!
